Concrete Floor Polishing

Aerothane’s 1500 pound electric grinding machines are equipped with diamond grinding discs that come in a variety of grits starting at 80-100 and progressing from 3000 -6000 grit.

First we start with coarse grit diamonds to remove the "dead skin" and defects.

Next we install progressively finer and finer grits until a beautiful shine develops.
Usually this is a 6 or 7 step process.

If the floor has existing coating or contaminates, then another 2 or 3 steps are required.

Numerous applications of Densifier (hardener) will be applied at the appropriate times.
It's a natural beautiful finish - No wax, no acrylic, no epoxy, and no floor polish, nothing out of a bucket. Your shine is naturally produced with diamonds only. Nothing to chip, fade or peel.

How to Judge Polished Concrete

Look straight down between your feet and look at the lighting.
Is it just a foggy glow or can you see the individual lights?
Anyone can make concrete shine at a 30 degree angle and at a 30 foot distance, but longevity is only obtained when you have clarity looking straight down.

KEY POINT: Clarity and Longevity go hand in hand. Benefits of Polished Concrete

• DRAMATICALLY LOWER MAINTENANCE COSTS
• END UP WITH AN ECO-FRIENDLY AND "GREEN" FLOOR
• DRAMATICALLY IMPROVE LIGHT REFLECTIVITY
• NO FADING, CHIPPING OR PEELING
• HIGH TRACTION FLOOR (.60 SCOF)

Polished Concrete is absolutely the floor of the future. It is Eco-friendly, low in maintenance, stunningly brilliant, and loved by everyone that has had their floors polished properly. However, to avoid disappointment, it is very important for you to understand the following.
Disadvantages of Polished Concrete

1. POLISHED CONCRETE IS ACID SENSITIVE.

If someone spills muriatic acid on your floor it will dull the finish instantly. Although it can be easily repaired, polished concrete should not be exposed to acids or strong chemicals.
We don't recommend our floors in the following applications:

• Citrus Processing Plants
• Aircraft Hangars
• Wine Manufacturing Plants
• Pickle Processing Plants
• Acid Manufacturing Plants
• Outdoor Applications ... Rain is normally acidic (5.4ph) and over time will dull
• Soft Drink Manufacturing

2. POLISHED CONCRETE IS NOT VISUALLY AS UNIFORM AS PAINT OR EPOXY.

Sometimes you will see aggregate, sometimes not.
Sometimes you'll see darker areas. Sometimes you'll notice "spider" cracking.

CONCLUSION:
If you don't appreciate the natural beauty of concrete, then polished concrete is not for you.
